About Brew & Bar

An independent reference for coffee and cocktail equipment, written to be checked rather than trusted.

What this site is

Brew & Bar is a reference. It documents what coffee and cocktail equipment does, what it has to match up with, what goes wrong in practice and what the safety limits are. Twenty-eight tool guides, three calculators, four interactive 3D simulations and one sortable equipment database.

What it is not

  • It is not a shop. Nothing is sold, shipped or linked for commission.
  • It is not sponsored. No brand pays for a mention, and no guide is written to favour a product.
  • It is not a substitute for the instructions that came with your equipment. Those always take priority.
  • It is not medical, dietary or legal advice. The safety notes are general and specific to the equipment, not to you.

Where the numbers come from

The specification and parameter tables use the ranges that working equipment actually falls into — grind sizes, ratios, pressures, temperatures and times. Where a recommendation originates in a coffee or cocktail community, the source is named on the page, and the original meaning is preserved even where the wording is condensed.

How the 3D tools work

Each simulator is a real calculation behind a 3D model, not an animation. Change a parameter and the model and the readouts both respond. They are teaching tools: they show how a variable behaves, not what your specific machine will do. All four are built from generated geometry — no external models, no third-party assets, and no library loaded until you open one.

Accessibility and honesty

The site works without JavaScript for reading, respects prefers-reduced-motion, and falls back to a static diagram with the same figures wherever 3D is unavailable. If something here is wrong, the contact page is the place to say so.
